I met Dr. Couret in June 2013 after spending hours in an emergency hospital, and consulting our previous veterinarian with no answers as to why my Mastiff suddenly refused to eat, drink, and couldn’t stop trembling. Suggestions after clean x-rays, perfect blood work, and observation were that she had acquired a sudden severe anxiety issue and medication was the only recommended treatment. Unsatisfied, terrified, frustrated something was legitimately wrong, and running out of options, I chose to look into a chiropractic consultation. I had never been to a chiropractor with my, then, 5-year-old. Bella, while a genuine sweetheart, came to my husband and I two years prior, without any history. She suffered from a general lack of trust in the vet’s office. At our first appointment, Dr. Couret listened to Bella’s history in length and acknowledged that I felt strongly there was a sincere issue. Upon exam, that she did very slowly so as not to stress Bella, she determined that Bella had suffered an atlanto-axial subluxation (injury to her neck). The injury is remarkably painful often resulting in headaches and nausea (as seen in people). Dr. Couret was then able to adjust Bella’s spine back into its correct alignment. Almost instantly her symptoms disappeared and the fear that I might lose my dog vanished.

Since then, Bella has been adjusted every eight weeks, religiously. At each visit, Dr. Couret is able to do something new with her, pushing the boundaries of her trust. My dog is not a ball of worry in the office, and has allowed Dr. Couret to do things that she’s only allowed me to do. Bella adores Karmen.

I cannot say enough about the care that is provided. I always feel like Bella is a priority during her appointments, and I always feel like Dr. Couret truly listens to my concerns and does her best to address them. I respect that Dr. Couret trusts owners to know their pets the best and always presents options in testing and treatment rather than pushing me into a decision. I have owned animals my entire life and while I have always ensured they receive top-notch vet care, there hasn’t been anyone quite like Karmen.

Our family feels blessed everyday knowing Dr. Karmen Couret. We have 3 dogs, 2 of which had some debilitating issues. Our 150lb italian mastiff, Isabella, was nearly immobile in her hind quarters and our 80lb german shorthaired pointer Duncan could not hold his head up. Even with medication, their problems never seemed to lessen. We felt like their quality of life was diminishing.

Skeptically following the suggestion of close friend, we sought out the chiropractic and acupuncture services of Dr Karmen as a last resort. In one session, years were given back to our dogs.  Our mastiff bounded around like a puppy and our pointer walked and stood with a confidence that hadn't been seen in years.

For anyone whom has canine kids in need of specialty care, we enthusiastically recommend Dr. Karmen.  We're forever indebted to her for the miracles she's worked on Isabella and Duncan.
